Composition
“There is a breadth and a wild imagination to the work, as well as a virtuosic flamboyance and theatricality in the execution, that are enormously impressive.”
— On Five Images After Szukalski, 2020
An award-winning composer
I might be focusing on singing, but my fire for composition has not left me. This year I have worked on pieces for short films, choirs, solo singers and chamber ensembles, as well as a set of new orchestrations of operatic arias and classical songs.
My compositions have been performed by a wide variety of groups, from world-renowned performers such as Voces8 to university and college choirs and orchestras. Highlights include working with Contemporary Music Ventures on their collaborative work The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, orchestrating for the 2022 Southrepps Festival, and working with LoveOpera to create The Picture of Dorian Gray, my debut opera.
Your style, refined
One of the most amazingly freeing things I found when studying for my master’s in composition was the ability of my teachers to help me refine my own style, find my own voice.
If you are anything like me, you’ll know that a lot of thought when composing is given to who else writes like this - it’s a question that does not really matter: you write like that. Find how to write your own way to the best of your ability.
Whether it’s GCSE, A-level or IB coursework, undergraduate composition or just writing for the utter pleasure of creation, I would love to work with you!
